Watch it mumsy!
It was a Saturday night and we’d farmed out our three kids so that we could enjoy a dinner out with friends, followed by a drink at a bar at the Mount.
This was a rare occasion, so we were ready to let our hair down and maybe even hit the D-floor. As I made my way through the bar, this seemingly pre-pubescent boy shoved into me then turned and loudly said – “Watch it Mumsy”.
Truth be told, we were up there with the oldest patrons in the bar, but the word ‘Mumsy’ stuck with me for a long time.
When I really delved into it, and faced the facts, I did feel Mumsy – it just took that barely 18 year old little shit in the bar to make me realise it.
When you have a baby your life changes dramatically. After having my eldest daughter Annabelle, I really struggled to find clothes that made me feel good, and allowed me to breastfeed with ease.

I felt that my personal style had gone out the window. The clothes I wanted to wear were not breastfeeding friendly. I felt I’d aged 10 years and turned into this different version of myself – one that lacked confidence, wore trackies way too much, and generally ignored self-care in favour of the baby’s needs.
After the birth of my second child, Pippa, I went back to work after four and a half months. Work was extremely busy and I recall having to awkwardly drape a wrap or swaddle across myself, tucking it into the sides of my bra strap so that I could feel comfortable while pumping in the office every few hours.
I found it extremely frustrating for it to be such an effort to get my boobs out and do what needed to be done! I ended up wearing clothes that just weren’t me, but gave me the flexibility to pump more comfortably and quickly.
When I look back now, the issues I faced juggling being back to work while breastfeeding, were unnecessary. I would have jumped at the chance to wear clothes that showcased my style, made me feel comfortable and confident, all while allowing me to continue pumping to feed! And this is why I’m so proud of The Work Edit release.
For me, a huge part of developing this brand has been about creating a career that I’m passionate about while also being a Mum.
